The new £310m Green Port Hull Scheme will be started later this year following Hull City Council’s planning committee approval of the for a wind turbine assembly centre.


Siemens will commit around £160m and Associated British Ports will invest a further £150m to the development with the money being spent on a new port facility in Alexandra Dock as well as a new rotor blade centre in Paull.


It’s estimated the project will take 3 years to complete and will feature a 600m quay on the Rover Humber, reclaim around 8 hectares of foreshaw and dredge 62m wide and 11m deep berths.


The suggestion is that up to 300 jobs will be created on the construction of the project and the manufacturing and assembly plant will employ 700 highly skilled engineers when it comes


Finbarr Dowling, Siemens project director for Hull, said: “We are delighted that the plans for Alexandra Dock have been approved today by Hull City Council. These works represent an important step in the overall programme which will be progressed in coming months and years.”
