Tougher sentences for those in breach of serious health and safety offences have been introduced following a review of the existing convictions and include guidelines for fines of up to £2m for those people convicted of corporate manslaughter.


Over 200 people were killed at work during 2013/14 however since corporate manslaughter regulations were introduced in 2007 only 8 convictions have taken place with the highest fine being £500,000.
