New Lords Cricket Ground Stand

Marylebone Cricket Club has unveiled plans for the second phase of the £200m redevelopment of Lord’s Cricket Ground.

The second phase which will cover the south-western project is the biggest phase of Lord’s redevelopment plans and includes the replacement of the Tavern and Allen Stands.

There will be significant internal improvements to the Pavilion which will allow more teams and staff to use the facilities as well as the redevelopment of the Thomas Lord Building.

A new Tavern pub will be built inside the grounds, creating a more inclusive and welcoming watering hole.

Lord’s will become more public-friendly, with the ceremonial nature of the Grace Gates being restored by redirecting delivery traffic underground into a enlarged and deepened basement below the Thomas Lord Building.

There will be over 5,520 additional seats in the new three-tier stand with 1,400 more for MCC members with the stand aiming to be ready for use by 2019, ahead of the World Cup and Ashes series whilst the redevelopment of the Pavilion will be completed in 2022. By the end of the second phase of development Lord's will have a capacity close to 30,000.
