In further positive news for the construction industry three construction firms will be selected to take part on £130m construction framework for the redevelopment of Dover Harbour Board’s western docks which will include a new marina and cargo terminal.

The Port of Dover is the world's busiest passenger port, with 16 million travellers, 2.1 million lorries, 2.8 million cars and motorcycles and 86,000 coaches passing through it each year. The Port could create over 600 new logistics industry jobs for Dover and safeguard another 140 positions by developing a new cargo terminal.

The first appointment will be awarded to a contractor capable of carrying out the required land reclamation with a 22.5m berth for the marina development with a contract value of around £22.5m.

The other contractors appointed to the framework will have to bid for further packages set out in the Harbour Board’s development Framework.

Construction of the new dock and marina is due to start in January 2015 so Dover Harbour Board is keen to get applications in as soon as possible - Expressions of interest must be made by 18 August to John Lyden at the Dover Harbour Board. Tel: 01304 240400 extension 4140.
