Midlands based construction company Morgan Sidnall has reported a strong start to the year with an order book up 14% to £2.7bn with a pipeline backing of £3.2bn of regeneration schemes. The firm’s sales for the six months to June 30th were just shy of £1bn.

Morgan Sindall is working on a wide range of projects including the redevelopment of the Moller Centre at Churchill College and on the expansion of Cambridge University’s chemical engineering and biotech facilities, which is one element of the £40.8m construction contract on the West Site off Madingley Road.

Further key projects include those in Scotland which includes a £24m facility for Police Scotland in Dalmarnock near Glasgow whilst the company is onsite at four primary schools in South Lanarkshire.

Off the back of The Markit UK Construction PMI report yesterday this is another indication of how the construction industry is growing as the recovery takes hold, the Group reported pre-tax profits for the half-year of £13 million, up from £1m previous year, despite a 2% overall fall in revenues to £998m.
