Cladding of the former Press and Broadcast Centre for the London 2012 Olympic Games has been won by building envelope specialists Lakesmere.

Lakesmere will carry out the £13m project through main contractor Laing O’Rouke, which is currently in the process of transforming the centre into a new East London digital hub Here East. Here East will be a creative and digital cluster of businesses.

The design, manufacture and installation of the digital hub’s new unitised glazing system will be looked after by Lakesmere and they’ll also deliver the perforated aluminium rainscreen cladding, polycarbonate cladding and mesh soffit and fascia cladding.

Lakesmere’s sister company McMullen Facades will manufacture and supply the unitised glazing panels with Lakemere’s Special Projects team designing and installing the glazing.

In addition to transforming the outside of the Press and Broadcast Centre Lakesmere is also working on the new roof of the Olympic Stadium.
