The Edinburgh-based building firm Miller Group has been bought by competitor Gallford Try for around £16.6million.

 

The Chairman of the private firm Philip Bowman said the sale of Miller Construction would now be able to concentrate on house building and commercial property.

 

He went on to say: “The acquisition of Miller Construction by Galliford Try will provide it with a strong base from which to grow its competitive position and continue to serve its clients.”

 

Galliford are the owner of Scottish building company Morrison and by paying £16.6million for Miller Construction (which generated £409 million last year) and will see the organisation becoming a major force to be reckoned with in the UK with an order book of around £2.8 billion.

 

Chief executive Greg Fitzgerald said: “We are delighted to announce the acquisition of Miller Construction, achieved at a very good price and with no net cash consideration.

 

“The acquisition brings together two construction businesses with a strong strategic fit and accelerates our strategy of growth into an improving marketplace.”
