In a positive move for the construction industry throughout England, The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) has announced £886m for the use by 160 housing organisations in addition to the £404m Borris Johnson has allocated to 54 housing bodies in the Greater London area.

The HCA believe almost 43,000 new affordable homes will be created by March 2018 across March 2018.

Chief of the HCA Andy Rose said: “We have set in place a solid delivery programme that will ensure a smooth transition from our current Affordable Homes Programme, and that delivery can start promptly.”

Discussing the benefits to the construction industry, new Housing Minister Brandon Lewis said this is an: “ambitious new scheme to build affordable homes at the fastest rate for 20 years, which will support 165,000 jobs in construction and sustain thousands of small businesses.”

It’s great to see the government further commit to developing the England’s (and the UK’s) housing stock both in terms of the overall economic benefits but more specifically the benefits for the construction industry.

At OBAS we’re already seeing the beneficial impact of the growth in the construction sector with building supplies particularly in high demand and no doubt this announcement will enable more of our customers to see the positive impact of the recovery.
