Mace has seen off huge competition to redevelop the BBC’s iconic TV Centre in West London.

The £400m scheme will see the famous doughnut shaped building being redeveloped into a mixed-use space which will include a business-hub targeting creative industries, a hotel, cinema, restaurants, gym and cafes in addition to 950 homes.

The plans see two of the former BBC stage buildings make way for a ten storey office building which will be topped by a 47 bedroom private members club with a roof terrace and a swimming pool and restaurants.

The BBC will maintain a presence after construction starts in April 2015, with BBC Studios, as well as post-production and BBC Worldwide will still remaining at Television Centre

David Camp, Stanhope chief executive, said: “We are delighted that Mace has been selected as the preferred construction manager for the delivery of Television Centre, we now intend to progress with enabling works to allow key elements of the first phase of Television Centre to be occupied in 2017.

“For the first time in 50 years, the site will be opened up creating access through the site essential in enabling Television Centre to become the hub of an evolving district.

“Together with the BBC’s continuing presence on the site and the addition of Soho House, we believe that Television Centre will be a great place to live, work and visit.”

Mark Reynolds, Mace chief executive, said: “Continuing our long-established relationship with Stanhope and Mitsui Fudosan is tremendous and we are looking forward working with AIMCo, helping everyone transform the iconic Television Centre into a vibrant new community in west London.”
