Conlon Construction Completed Buckshaw Village Primary School Extension
Conlon Construction has announced the completion of their recent project to double the size of Buckshaw Village’s Trinity CofE Methodist Primary School.
There has been strong demand for the school since it opened in 2011 and the extension will allow the school to double its intake to a two form entry system with two forms each year.
The development which opens with the new intake this September comprises of six additional classrooms, and much needed space for pupils and staff.
The £5.5m was commissioned by the Diocese of Blackburn and the Methodist Circuit makes good use of outdoor space, incorporating a multi-use games area, habitat garden and two junior-sized football pitches.
Jill Wright, headteacher at Trinity CofE Methodist Primary School, Buckshaw Village, said: “We’re all thrilled with the new building and looking forward to using it from September onwards.
“By retaining the same team, we have been able to maintain the quality of the original building and everyone is excited about using the new facilities for the first time.”
Michael Conlon, chairman at Conlon Construction, added: “We were delighted to have been re-appointed as the contractor to complete this latest phase of works at a school which is a popular landmark in the local community.
“Nationally there is an urgent need for extra school places and so to be able to deliver on that requirement, whilst also maintaining the quality of the building, has been a pleasure.”
The new school will help deal with additional capacity needed to keep up with the demand of up to 2000 new housing units that are being built by various housebuilders in Euxton’s Buckshaw Village, which includes Redrow, Barratt Homes, Persimmon and Rowland Homes.
