Both plants had been owned by Hope Construction Materials. The Cavenham plant has a capacity of around 200 tonnes per hour and is based in a sand and gravel quarry which is owned and operated by Allen Newport, whereas the Wivenhoe plant has a capacity of 120 tonnes per hour and is located in a quarry owned by Lafareg Tarmac.

“We now have a network of nine asphalt plants throughout central England, stretching from Leominster in the west to Norwich in the east.”
