Planning permission has been granted for the development of a £20m office development in Belfast Harbour which it’s estimated will support a construction workforce of 600 work work begins.


To be completed in 2016, there will be 124,000 sq ft of Grade A office space in City Quays 2 which will back up the City Quays 1 development where development is already in an highly advanced state.


Graeme Johnston, Belfast Harbour's property director, said: "Following Invest NI's recent successes the time is right to further invest in City Quays and support the region's economic development."


It’s estimated by property advisors CBRE that there are around 30 businesses looking for Grade A office space in Belfast, which it believes is equal to close to 3 times the amount of space being constructed in City Quays 2.


The harbour is also extending the Sydenham Business Park based close to George Best Belfast City Airport in a demand led development that will see 26 new business units being built.
